// A guide for creators & educators

The Kajabi alternative
you own.

Kajabi rents you a course platform, one plan limit and one monthly bill at a time. If you've outgrown its tiers, its templates or the idea of renting your own school, here's what it really costs, and how easy it is to move to one you own.

// The pitch vs. what you get

All-in-one, all on their terms.

Every Kajabi selling point comes with a catch once the business works. Here's each one next to what Atlas does instead.

Kajabi's pitchWhat it means for youWith Atlas
All-in-one
Courses, site, email and payments in one login, inside Kajabi's templates, plan limits and monthly bill.
One system built around your teaching, on your domain, with no plan limits.
Launch in a weekend
You're the one building it: uploading every video, wiring the drip, setting up the emails. A second job.
We build it and run it. You hand us your material and teach.
Grows with you
Grows with your bill. Products, contacts and admin seats are capped by tier: 5 products and 2,500 contacts on Basic.
No platform caps. Add courses, members and team without changing plans.
Your brand
Kajabi branding stays unless you're on the $499 Pro plan, and your course still runs in Kajabi's player.
Only ever your brand, from the sales page to the last lesson.
Your business
Contacts and videos leave with you. The site, course player, student logins and automations stop when the subscription does.
Stop working with us and everything keeps running. It's yours.

Kajabi figures from kajabi.com/pricing as listed on 3 October 2026; plans and prices change. *On an owned platform, email sending runs through your own email provider, which sets its own pricing. Hosting and video hosting are billed to you directly.

// When you leave

What comes with you, and what doesn't.

This is the line that decides it. Your material can leave Kajabi. The business you built around it runs on Kajabi, and it stops when the subscription does.

Comes with you

  • Your contact list, exported as a spreadsheet
  • The video files you uploaded
  • Your lesson text and email copy, if you copy it out first

Stops with the subscription

  • The website and landing pages as they run today
  • The course player, student logins and their progress
  • Checkout and your live offers
  • Email sequences and automations, as working systems

None of this is a secret, and Kajabi isn't unusual. Every hosted platform works this way, because the platform is the product you pay for. The question is whether you want the business you're building for the next ten years to live inside it.

// Where it binds

The ceiling you can't raise.

01

The bill never ends

A course you sell for ten years costs ten years of rent. At Growth's listed monthly price, that's $29,880 before a single card fee. The rent meter runs the numbers for any plan.

02

Your course looks like Kajabi

Themes and colors change, but the course player, the login and the structure are Kajabi's. Your most valuable material sits inside the same frame as everyone else's.

03

The features are the features

Cohorts that move together, a reflections journal, a practitioner directory, certifications that renew, an AI guide trained on your teaching. If it isn't on Kajabi's roadmap, you bolt on another tool or go without.

04

Your best work stays invisible

Years of teaching sit behind a login, out of reach of search and AI. On your own site, that material can become permanent public pages with your name on them.

// Moving off Kajabi

Moving is our job.

We've run this on a live Kajabi account: 33 products, 8,100 contacts and years of video. Your part is one call and one review. We do the rest, and your students never lose access.

01

One call

Give us collaborator access and show us around. That's most of your part done.

02

We take inventory

Every product, contact and video, checked. We separate engaged subscribers from dormant ones, so your list arrives clean.

03

We build

Course, membership and site rebuilt as one system in your brand, on your domain, with checkout through your own Stripe.

04

We switch it on

Students get their new logins first, your domain moves over, and Kajabi is cancelled once you're happy.

Your partOne call. One review. One yes. We do everything else.

// Case study · Natasha Nazerali

Her own school, on her own site.

Natasha's five-week live course, The Orders of Love, runs on a platform built into her own website: her checkout, her students, her Stripe, her brand. It was a one-time build, with no platform subscription behind it.

// Questions

Kajabi, answered.

How much does Kajabi cost in 2026?

As listed on kajabi.com/pricing on 3 October 2026: Basic is $179 a month ($143 a month billed annually), Growth is $249 ($199 annually) and Pro is $499 ($399 annually). Kajabi Payments charges 2.9%, 2.8% or 2.7% plus $0.30 per transaction, depending on the plan.

Can I export my course from Kajabi?

Partly. Your contacts export as a spreadsheet, and the videos you uploaded can be downloaded. The running systems (the website, the course player, student logins and progress, checkout and automations) stop when the subscription ends and have to be rebuilt elsewhere.

When you move to Atlas, that rebuild is our job, not yours.

What's the best Kajabi alternative?

It depends on what you want to change. If you want another subscription with different trade-offs, Teachable, Thinkific, Podia and Skool are the usual names. If you want to stop renting, the alternative is a course platform built for you on your own domain and owned outright. That's what Atlas builds.

Do I lose my students if I leave Kajabi?

Not if the move is planned. Students get access on the new platform first, and Kajabi is cancelled only after everything is across.

Is Kajabi bad?

Kajabi works, on its terms: a bill every month, caps on products and contacts by plan, its branding unless you pay for Pro, and a business you can't take with you. An owned platform removes the caps and the branding, has no platform subscription, and the whole business stays yours.
